With the rising cost of living, everyone is looking for a side hustle.
My Online Businesses
I found myself in the position back in 2001. I was in a management position with a large retailer and the salary I was bringing home was not making ends meet. Unfortunately, starting online businesses was not a viable option for me at that time. The barrier for entry was so high. You had to have a lot of money or expertise to get started. Fast-forward to 2013 I was in the same position again, but this time starting an online business was very simple and affordable. I started a web design business from the living room of my apartment. I invested less than $100 dollars to get started. This is when I realized I was on to something great!
The 3 Online Businesses
Enough about my story, lets get into the 3 businesses you can start for less than $100.
Web Design
If you have any kind of graphic skills and some knowledge of a platform that allows you to build websites, then you can start your own web design business. I chose to start with WordPress because I love the platform and I believe it is the best Content Management System available. If you want to start a web design business with WordPress, you will need hosting. I recommend Bluehost. You will need a website. When you purchase hosting with Bluehost it comes with a free domain name and you are able to install WordPress with one click. The set up is very easy. Design your website. Create a contract from a template online. Then start marketing your services to small businesses. You can start making money today if you have some clients in mind that may need new websites.
T-Shirt Business
This is another business that I have personally started to make extra money. It is so simple to get started. You will need a website to get stared. You will need to do some research to determine what type of designs you will sell. Once you have that all figured out, you will need to install an eCommerce shopping cart plugin on your WordPress site to create your online store. You will also need at payment processing gateway such as PayPal or square. The great thing is you can get started without any inventory. You can use a fulfillment company such as Printful, TeeSpring, or Print Aura.
Information Marketing
If you have some type of specialized knowledge that provides a solution to a problem, then you can package that knowledge and market it to people who need it. I truly believe everyone has their own zone of genius. You just have to figure out what it is and then you can package it and sell it.
